Published Author
After the publication of Jim’s book on leadership – Choose to Lead: A Practical Guide for Educational Leadership – Jim has committed to coaching new and aspiring heads of school. Also, Jim has begun consulting on the various elements of successful schools, from administrative position searches to board governance, to strategic planning.
Jim enjoyed a forty-two-year career in education at both the secondary and collegiate levels. As president of Eastside Catholic School in Sammamish, Washington, Jim led the construction of an $88 million, 160,000 square foot campus on a 50-acre site, and the expansion from a 560-student high school to a grades 6-12 school with 850 students.
At St. Edward High School from 2010 to 2022, Jim’s visionary leadership lead to the addition of the International Baccalaureate Program (the largest and most successful IB program in Ohio), the St. Andre Scholars Program for developmentally challenged students, the expansion of the Cleveland Scholarship (Voucher) Program, and the construction of both the state-of-the-art Lowe Innovation Center and new Commons. Jim previously served as Principal at St. Edward High School, Associate Dean of Admission at Princeton University, and as a football coach at both Harvard and Fordham universities.
A graduate of Harvard University with an AB degree in History and Fordham University Graduate School of Education with an MS in Counselling and Personnel Services, Jim was an accomplished quarterback while at Harvard and was inducted into the Harvard Athletic Hall of Fame.
