Background

C2L is committed to expanding workplace innovation to help both employers and employees choose economic and productive options that support the workplace and personal quality of life. C2L will serve as a clearinghouse of best practices and will be consulting with companies on how to design, implement and execute requirement- specific workplace models, create standardized metrics and raise awareness on organizational and institutional factors that facilitate or impede job satisfaction for today’s working women.

Can an organization offer benefits and flexible work schedules to accommodate the changing workforce and still be profitable?

Can women find workplaces that will allow them to fulfill their family priorities and continue their career growth?

The answer to these questions is "yes". C2L has produced a study "Win-Win Workplace Practices: The Study of Improved Organizational Results and Improved Quality of Life" for the Women’s Bureau of the U.S. Department of Labor that speaks directly to these issues. The subject case studies include great examples of practices that can prove positive to both employers and employees. While some of these practices may be on the leading edge, it is this type of approach that must be considered in order to face the critical needs of the 21st century workforce – economically recruiting and retaining qualified employees and finding opportunities to balance the daily choices of work and life.

There is a pressing need to understand the changing dynamics of the labor force – not only by the basics: age, gender, ethnicity and education – but by the motivations and methods in which they make their choices. In a separate study, “The Many Faces of the 21st Century Working Woman”, C2L has identified key issues concerning today’s workforce and the workforce of the coming generations. Organizations that can make the connection between employee needs and bottom-line results will be those that have the greatest opportunity for success. Women making their voices heard can be a powerful instrument for directing positive change.

For working women, Project C2L will:
