Women need to have access to and understand the implications of various investment and savings plans, as well as the use and responsibility of credit. To avoid being a statistic (the poverty rate of single elderly women exceeds the overall poverty rate) and to have freedom to choose their lifestyles, women must–in all phases of their lives–consider and prepare for the future. Women need to set financial goals, and have access to information, educational and earning opportunities that align with those goals.
C2L will be a source of financial information that can be used to guide women through the financial opportunities and challenges that they face. C2L, with the support of financial institutions and related services, will develop the necessary curriculum to provide women with a reliable source to help them consider and plan their financial goals. C2L will also use its workplace partnerships to seek and pilot innovative ways to reach women and to help them optimize their earnings.
C2L will integrate financial education into women’s lives through multiple communication channels and partnerships, but will focus on workplace training.
For women entering the workforce, Project C2L will:
-
Teach principals of financial responsibility
-
Help women realize their earning, saving and purchasing power
-
Assist in financial goal setting
For women in mid-career, Project C2L will:
-
Provide access to pertinent and trusted financial information
-
Create awareness of homeownership opportunities
-
Help women set retirement goals
-
Inspire women to take greater control of their financial power and long-term security
